Right, let's do this

I've never known Steven Seagal swear as much as he does in this film i'm watching right now. It's Tuesday evening and i'm in the car on the way home after a successful day at Cheltenham races (won £80 profit, which is 2 days wages, so i'm pretty buzzing).

So yeah i'm keeping a promise to myself to post on my blog regularly. I went to log into Blogger and realised i've forgot my my password and couldn't get it back, which is a sign in itself that I haven't posted for months, this is now my new blog which i'm going to try update at least once a week with my thoughts on West Brom, football in general and just stuff i'm liking, loving and hating, stuff i'm into.
The Twitter stuff is fun and easy from my phone but this is more grown up. It will also come in for uni stuff, I do enjoy blogging, just don't find time for it these days, i'm rubbish. I'm back on it now though. Steven Seagal has just smashed up a strip bar.

I've been busy with work and my own little projects i'm doing, this is where i'm at:

I've recently been Director of Photography for a short film called 'Cucumber Sandwich' which i'm pretty chuffed with to be honest, it will be posted on Vimio and Youtube so as soon as it's uploaded i'll throw a link over.

In the pre-production of another short film entitled 'Family Ties' which willbe shot on location in Cheddar Gorge starting next Monday so i'm looking forward to that. Just in the process of sorting out/hiring appropriate lighting and studying the storyboards to add some last minute changes before filming.

I'm currently writing a big story which is a slow process as i'm constantly adding and removing stuff but enjoying it as it requires me to use my brain more than I usually would. I don't know what i'm going to do with it when it's done but i'm just really loving writing at the moment and i'm really pleased with it so far.

Seagal just put a hook through some guys shoulder and carried on beating im up 'til he died. This film is horrible. I love Seagal but the naffness is part of the charm. When they forego the naffness of brutality it just exposes itself as badly made violence. Laters Steven.

Alright so i'm nearly home, gunna get in and eat some sausages, have a good week and remember, fingerless gloves are no longer prevalent for good reason.

Match Report: West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Manchester United

The first Premier League game of 2011 was held at The Hawthorns as West Brom played host to table toppers Mnchester United who the Baggies have not beaten in 27 years, but The Hawthorns faithful seemed confident as their team have put in some sparkling performances against the bigger teams this season. In the opposit fixture which was played earlier this season West Brom came from 2-0 behind to clinch a point against United at Old Trafford so the fans believed their team may be able to get something out of this game despite there form taking a dip over the festive period which has seen them take a slow slump down the table and only 4 points from relegation, before this game West Brom had conceded the most goals in the league and United had scored the most goals, this stat would say United should get the three points their fans would expect, but Albion have been a mixed bag this season and when they play to their ability they can cause any team big problems with their passing and confidence when going forward, although scoring of late has become a problem as they are creating chances but struggling, they are also not the best side at defending, the fact they have had only one clean sheet this seasion reiterates this fact.

West Brom were riddled with injuries and suspensions before this game with Tamas facing a three match ban due to his red card against Blackburn and Jara was also suspened whilst Olsson is still injured and Shorey is still not back to match fitness. With this in consideration Albion called back loanee Zuiverloon from Ipswich Town for this game. Cech, Scharner, Reid (this was his first Premier League start for Albion) and Ibanez started at the back for the Baggies as they played in a 4-2-3-1 formation to deal with the attacking threat of Rooney and Berbatov. Chris Brunt was back in the squad after serving aone game ban, this was a massive boost for the Baggies as he's been a big player for them this season.
Sir Alex Ferguson made four changes from his teams draw at Blues on Tuesday night. Ex-Albion keeper Thomasz Kuszczak replaced Edwin Van Der Sar in goal for united and received a warm welcome from the Baggies fans. Gary Neville, Gabriel Obertan and Darren Fletcher also started for United in place of Ryan Giggs, Darron Gibson and Rafael.

It looked like it was going to be a long day for the Baggies and their fans as it only took United 2 mintues to score after Obertan pulled the ball back to Patrice Evra who put the ball across box to an unmarked Rooney who simply couldn't miss and headed the ball from 12 yards past a scurrying Scott Carson. It looked like Albion's makeshifts defence were in for a busy afternoon.

This was the worst start to the game Di Matteo could have hoped for with Albion picking up zero points from their last three games, but his men didn't hold back and to their credit really gave united something to think about.

Just before the 10 minute mark James Morrison whipped in a fantastic cross from the right wing which saw Jerome Thomas to capatilise on a diddering Gary Neville but was let down by his first touch and the ball went out of play to the relief of the United right back.

Morrison was Albion's best player in the early stages of the game with his confident running on goal and pin point passes and he was awarded for his performance on the 14th minute with a strike that has to be a goal-of-the-month/season contender.
Chris Brunt put a superb diagonal ball into the edge of the area where Odemwingie put pressure on Vidic who could only header the ball to the oncoming Morrison who struck the ball on the half volley from 25 yards which curled into the top left corner of the net and left Kuzszcak with no chance.

The baggies were now brimming with confidence as they zipped the ball around the pitch with ease and made runs as Uniteds defence that cause real problems for the table toppers, after some great build-up play Marek Cech had a strike from the edge of the United box only for it to go embarassingly wide of the goal.
It was all baggies for the rest of the first half as Jerome Thomas casued havok cutting into the middle and giving Gary Neville a torrid time. On 23 minutes Jerome Thomas had a shot easily saved by the United keeper after some superb build-up play from West Brom.

On the 26th minute came a massive talking point as Dorrans was found by a perfect defense splitting pass from Morrison. Dorrans controlled the ball sublimely with his chest and was one on one with the keeper and looked iminant to score only to be hacked down by Gary Neville who got all of the man and non of the ball, which surely should see Albion win a penalty and a red card for Neville, but to the disbelief of the home fans Chris Foy waved play on. Would it have been the same decision if it happened at the other end of the field? Chris Foy also gave two very soft penalties against Baggies when they hosted Stoke in November leaving the fans baffled.

Despite this Albion carried on attacking United and Chris Brunt saw his 25 yard shot miss by inches and go over the bar.
United were struggling to get anywhere near Scott Carson's goal as the 1st half was coming to a close and their only shot on goal was Rooney's header which saw them lead.

Just before the end of the first half United were on the backfoot again as Odemwingie had a shot from 20 yards but it was hit well wide of the goal.
In extra time in the 1st half Albion missed another opportunity to take the lead when Odemwingie found Dorrans only for him to smash the ball into the side netting.

Albion finished where they left off in the second half as Thomas flew down the left wing past Gary Neville and played the ball to Brunt who watched his 18 yard strike go wide with Albions 9th effort of the game.

Dorrans drove forward again as he had another shot on goal only for it to bounce off Anderson and out for an Albion corner. Brunt whipped in the corner which saw Scharner pull away from his marker and header the ball within centimetres of the post and go wide.

Just before the hour mark Ferguson decided to make two changes as his side were not in the game at all and were being out played by Di Matteo's men as Hernandez and Gibson came into the action for Berbatov and Obertan.

On 63 minutes Albion were awarded a penalty when Thomas once again beat Neville only to be brought down by Ferdinand leading to Chris Foy blowing his whistle and pointing to the spot.
Odemwingie stepped up to take the penalty and scuffed it horribly as Kuzszcak watched in relief as it fizzled past his post.
After this miss United got into the game for the first time since their goal and Carson was called upon when Rooney got through the defence but he was equal to it and gathered it bravely.

With 70 minutes gone Albion's defensive casualties got worse as Ibanez and Reid hobbled off and were replaced by Somen Tchoyi and Gianni Zuiverloon.

This is when United got into the game and began to attack Albion menacingly testing their weakened defence as Carson made a good parrying save to deny Micheal Carrick scoring from the edge of the area.

On 75 minutes Albion were masters of their own undoing when Rooney's corner was met by a totally un-marked Hernandez who headered the ball past Carson from 6 yards, this proves Albion really need to brush up on defending corners as this has been a major problem for them all season. Moments after Rooney headered the ball just over Carson's goal.

Albion carried on attacking United and Thomas came exceptionally close when his placed shot beat Kuzszcak only to be stopped from going in when Vidic blocked it with his right boot.
Moments after Thomas missed the target from a tight angle after a neat one two with Dorrans.

In the dying minutes of the game United got forward on the break and Albion were greatful for Zuiverloon to clear the ball from the Mexican's feet.

After 5 minutes of extra time Chris Foy blew the final whistle at the end of the game which saw United scrap for a 2-1 win.

It was the story of Albion's season so far, great performances but struggling to put away chances but they were not helped by referee Chris Foy who should have given another penalty and sent Gary Neville off the pitch, is it the same old story? Referees scared to give decisions against the big clubs? West Brom should feel very hard done by as they should have come away with a point and maybe all 3, but United once again helped out by the referee.
